My good friend and wife of one of my classmates, JSJ, posted pictures on facebook the other day of the Hawksbill sea turtle hatchlings!

I've seen many turtle hatchlings in Florida, but never got to see them on Statia during my almost two years there! (JSJ is currently on Statia) -- I'm way envious!

For those of you interested in island life, JSJ has a blog: Bloggity Blog , where she has been documenting her time on Statia. She has some of the most hilarious stories about island life, and she's a sweet heart, so check it out!

It's no secret that I'm a big runner

To me, one of the most important things you need for running

(appropriate running gear aside)

is a good running play list!!

I need something up beat to keep me running

I try to change up my playlist atleast once a week, sometimes two.

Winter Skin

WINTER SKIN

One of the most important things, that people sometimes forget about, is protecting your skin while on a winter trip!

Here are some easy tips to keeping your skin healthy while enjoying the winter

• To prevent raccoon eyes, sunburned cheeks, and a wind-chapped face, wear a face mask -- but let's be honest, the ninja look isn't exactly "cute". So instead choose a scarf, bandanna or neck gaiter--go with fleece instead of wool, because it dries faster and is less likely to irritate your skin
• Apply a sunscreen with both UVA and UVB coverage on all exposed areas. Try using a sunscreen stick, which will last longer and is less likely to melt/rub off while hitting the slopes

Post "snow day"

• Use lip butter instead of regular lip balm, because it's much more hydrating
• Make sure to put body lotion on shortly after getting out of the shower, as it will help your skin retain more moisture
• Use a humidifier at night --- dry heat from a heater or fireplace will dry out your skin, worsen lip chapping and hoarseness in your voice

A few simple tips, and you'll keep your skin healthy this winter season!

Dear All,

Many of you may know (pending on how long you've been reading my blog), I have a very big important exam (Step1) coming up. I wanted to go ahead and address this subject matter. I will NOT be publicizing my exam date, nor will I be stating if I pass or not. From this point on, I won't be discussing this exam on my blog. Why you may ask? The simple answer is that a lot of my classmates stalk my blog. (Yes, you. I know you're reading this right now) Everyone is way too competitive, and at this point I don't need any more negative energy.

If any of you would like to know about my exam, feel free to email me. I'm more than happy to tell you, I am just not comfortable posting it on a public blog. I do ask all of you to please keep me in your prayers, and please send lots of positive thoughts and positive energy my way! :)

I have a lot going on in my life right now, on every level possible. So I'd also like to take the time to ask for your forgiveness and patience. I won't, realistically, be able to read all your blogs every single day, but I will try to do so at the very least, once a week--hopefully more though! Meeting all of y'all has been so wonderful. So I just ask that you bare with me a bit while I go through a super busy phase.

On that note, I must inform you, that there are big changes happening in my life. In every way possible. Academic, personal, family, romantic..every aspect of my life is changing right now, and I must say, I'm happier than I've ever been. Big things are coming my way. All the pieces of my life are slowly falling into place, and it's just a wonderful feeling.

According to reports this morning,

Florida is the only US state without snow

While many associate snow with the hassle of shoveling, and traffic and airport delays

I've always found there to be something magical about a big snow storm

Everything gets so quiet, and so calm

Everything is blanketed in white

There's a pristine clarity in the air

And a calmness that cannot be put into words
